Refuge Language's ethos is to create a stronger, more diverse Northern Ireland by empowering refugees and asylum seekers to integrate into society.
We teach ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) to Refugees and Asylum Seekers in several locations across Belfast. In our courses students learn the English language, as well as the cultural information, required to adapt to life in NI. Courses are taught by experienced and passionate ESOL tutors. All our teachers are qualified in teaching ESOL, with either a CELTA, BA TESOL or MA TESOL. Classes help students build relationships with others who have been through similar experiences. Through community engagement, classes also allow students to build relationships with other Northern Irish residents. Additionally, we run events, trips and tours for our students to help them get a better understanding of Northern Ireland.
Our General ESOL courses follow a ‘Skills for Life’ curriculum, practising relevant topics through the study of Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening, Vocabulary and Grammar. We also run conversation-only groups where you will get to practise English with both international people and local NI residents.
